Thanks, Sarah. 🙂 I agree that it’s important not to bungle the climax. Otherwise, it can leave the reader dissatisfied with the ending and maybe the story as a whole. So we have to make sure we nail it on every aspect – not just thematically, but plot-wise, character-wise, and so on – for it to have the desired impact on our audience.

An excellent article, Sara – because this is a crucial aspect to the story and if fumbled, will undercut most everything else. Quite often we are not aware of what our overarching message is and what we REALLY want to achieve for our protagonist until quite a while after we have completed the first draft – which is why it’s often a good idea to go away and do something else before returning to the editing phase.
