A very insightful article on legacy in literature! I haven’t read too many books that use legacy. But the one that I did is still one of my favorite and most memorable stories, and that is The Night Circus.

Thanks, Sarah. 🙂 And now that you make that point about After Atlas (which I want to read at some point, too), fame would make an interesting theme case study. I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future!

And yes, definitely give Station Eleven a second chance. It’s much more than just an ordinary post-apocalyptic novel, and you have to give it several chapters before you see why. So it definitely requires some patience, but it’s well worth it.

This is a fascinating article – I haven’t read Station Eleven as I gave it a go, but wasn’t in the mood and DNF’d it, though I’m hoping to have another try with it during the year. The book that comes to mind that I read last year that had interesting things to say about legacy is After Atlas. The protagonist is known as the boy left behind by his mother, who controversionally left her young son and husband when she joined a one-way journey to the stars. That fame has clearly messed with his life.

Wonderful and insightful, Sara! I haven’t read Station Eleven yet but I’m more eager to read it now. Legacy is such an important aspect of life! I’ve made notes to use in Heritage to strengthen the theme.
