What an interesting premise. I never gave it a thought how the information delivered would make a difference in retention. I love my Kindle precisely for the ability to highlight info I want to remember and can easily find the note when I need it. I also appreciate the dictionary so I can immediately find the meaning of a word I'm not familiar with. Thanks for sharing this information.

Lisa, That's an interesting point you make about the Kindle. I read my ebooks through an app on my smartphone. Unlike your Kindle, the app does show me the cover/author everytime I resume reading a book. I guess it just goes to show that we're still in the "wild west" of ebooks and there's no consistency across platforms. Thank you for raising a really fascinating issue!

One thing I notice is that when people ask me what I'm reading on my Kindle, I normally can't remember the title or author. I assume this is because unlike a print book I don't look at the cover every time I pick it up, and since it automatically takes me to my bookmark I may never look at the title other than when I begin the book.
