When people are excited or nervous they tend to talk at a higher pitch andstringtheirwordstogether.  Calm people talk slower and lower.  People trying to calm other people talk that way as well. It takes more breath to speak lower (and to sing lower, for that matter) which helps you slow down.  

Now, no matter how you feel inside, your lower slower voice will be heard by the audience as a calm and cool speaker standing before them.]]></description>
